Every year, the AAAS holds a Student Poster Competition, which is for those enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs, and a General Poster Session, which is for postdocs, professionals, and other general attendees.
Eligibility: The competition is open only to full-time students for work recently performed while enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree program. Cash awards and certificates are presented only to student presenters. Completed doctorates, post-doctoral scholars, and professionals are not eligible to compete; however, as co-authors, they can be listed by the presenting student on the poster itself. Students are not eligible if they won a competition that included, as an award, presenting at the AAAS Annual Meeting. However, they are invited to submit their posters for the General Poster Session. Each applicant can submit only one poster.
Competition: There is a competition to recognize outstanding posters. Posters are judged at the meeting. Accepted posters will be listed in the AAAS Annual Meeting Program Book. Winners in each category receive a cash award and certificate and a one-year AAAS membership that includes a subscription to the journal Science. In addition, winners’ names are published in Science.
Submission: The website for Student Poster Submissions for the 2019 meetings will open on July 16, 2018.
